Aftermarket Gauges

Ok, this is a total noob question, but I did a search and couldn’t find anyone asking :). Where would aftermarket gauges hookup too? I would like to install a transmission temperature gauge, an air/fuel mix gauge, etc. Do they hookup to the ecu, or would I also need to install new sensors? Would they come with the gauges, or be another acquisition all together. Thanks for any information.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

im not too sure about tranny temp gauge, but if it were oil temp, it would be a probe into the oil pan, so i'd think the tranny temp is similar.

as for air/fuel gauge, dont bother with that since it does not do anything but dance around and only works well when the engine is under full throttle. in other words "is only fo decorations"

depending on the gauge, some may need additional parts. (like the pyrometer from autometer)
