i will post new pics tomorrow of end result as I was not happy with the mesh i used. I had ordered the exact size mesh that renova uses but i received crapping home depot size diamonds...that mesh looks cheap and defeats whole purpose of this project which is why i hadn't updated you guys with photos but tomorrow new mesh should be on and this project will be finished

update with new mesh

so i bought a new mesh...its really strong and diamonds measure 1/2"
It is very hard to mount the mesh without having any noticeable ties or chicken wire showing...epoxy glue or silicone might work but i dont like to use that because sometimes after hitting few pumps it could come lose.

anyways the backside of my grille looks like a disaster but i dont really care as long as the front is perfect

This is finished product w/ new mesh but not yet painted black

notice across the top i made holes to pass wire through to hold mesh

this is where it gets ugly...it was very neat before but struggling to get the mesh to fit properly and stay on...was not easy
I tried everything to make mesh hold while still using original bottom slide plastics for bumper but in the end i gave up and used one tab to hold it in place. in this next pic you can see how i made a hole in the tab.

anyways tomorrow i will take pictures of mesh painted black and of what i had to cut off the bumper to make this fit correctly...i know it may sound weird that i had to modify the top part of bumper but in the end i will have a nice grille that fits flush

you should have tried to fiberglass it in place, that may work............ :drinking:

jb weld!

just don't plan on taking the mesh off the grille.....

do it with the wires on, to keep it from moving...then cut the wires off afterwards, to make it look cleaner.

looks good though!

This is very nice. Where can I get some mesh like that? (I was also considering home depot mesh, even bought some, but stopped short of starting to cut things cos I wasn't really convinced that it was gonna look good)

well i got it from a sheet metal shop...just about 36 in long. look up a fence supply store or sheet metal shop around you way. worst comes to worst you can go to home depot and get this mesh thats similar to mine in Hardware Aisle (comes in a flat cardboard packaging) the only problem is they only sell 24in long sheet, so you would have to try and put 2 pieces together to make the full grille. the grille needs a mesh which measures about 29inches long so..

Lowes carries a mesh called "Gutter Guard". Pretty good stuff and comes in 4 ft sections.
