do Solara's have VVT-i technology? Cuz after readin all these I was under the impression that we didn't have it.

i believe the newer 1.5 generations do...if im wrong than its definitely gonna be on the gen 2...comin in august...

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the 2AZ-FE does. The 5S-FE definitely doesn't. I don't know if that was added to the 1MZ-FE at 1.5, but I want to guess no.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

1.5 gen 4cyl does have vvti, but not for the v6...gen 2 will have vvti i4/v6

Yes the Solara has the VVT-i Tech.
I own a 1.5 Gen 2002 i-4 and its a VVT-i Engine 2az-fe.

Gets a pretty nice kick at times when i need it for a i-4.

The older 4 cylinder engine (5S-FE, 99-01) does not have VVT-i.

The V6 (1MZ-FE, 99-03) does not have VVT-i (Camrys w/ the 1MZ-FE 02+ have it though... don't race them... they'll smoke you!)

The newer 4 cylinder (2AZ-FE, 02-present...) has VVT-i.
1GR-FE ftw!

a stock 02 v6 camry can smoke a stock 02 v6 solara??? :o that is totally not cool!!!

'02 V6 camry's have the 1MZ-FE (non-VVT-i)
'03 V6 camry's have the 3MZ-FE (VVT-i, same as the '04 sienna and '04 solara.)

I thought I read that they just put the Avalon (1mz w/ vvt-i) in the Camry... my bad =x
