Quick Question: What is the biggest tire size...

Postby SirMacDaddy » Tue Mar 23, 2010 5:40 pm

What is the biggest tire size that can fit a gen. 1 with gen. 2 rims? I have stock suspension as well as 15mm spacers in the back. I am willing and able to roll the fenders in the back.
I need to get tires ASAP and i want to get the biggest possible to fill up the wheel well.

I have tried searching this, but I couldn't find someone with the similar question that had the same or similar specs.

Thanks for your time
Omar

Wrong thing to do. Just get the stock size. If you want to properly fill the wells, get proper wheels and tires. seriously
Trust me, I'm a technician.

When i got my gen2's they came with 215/55r17

I went through many different tires to see which one fits the best. I would not recomend trying to fit the whole wheel well by getting big arse tires! its going to look like a truck! lol

and if you ever want to lower the car its going to rub like crazy.

If you want something with a nice look to it and still a comfortable ride i would say run 225/50r17 thats what i have.

DO NOT run anything wider than a 225 without spacers in the rear because you will rub against the strut.

hope this helped.

I am contemplating between 215/50/17 and 225/50/17 for my '99 I4...Did you have any issues with the 225's, and are you lowered?

Several resources show the following:
2004 Toyota Camry Solara SLE
Original equipment tire size:
P215/60R16
Alternate tire size also available:
P215/55R17

My car came with the Alternate size which I like just fine.

Costco told me I need to have 215/55/16 but how wide can I go with those SLE V6 wheels?

Thanks
