Exhaust recommendations - need suggestions

I have the TRD exhaust and JP Performance headers and Y-Pipe. The rest of my exhaust is stock. I know so little about it, I'm not sure what else there is other than a catalytic converter. Is this a decent setup or do I need to consider anything else? I passed the Maryland State emmisions test with this setup and would like to be able to do that without having to swap parts before the next test. Any suggestions? Thanks -JoeB

the sectional Mid pipe.

that is the dinky bottle neck. just go to a shop, get 2.25 pipping done. you should feel less restriction and better exhaust flow.

I do have the Super Charger so I imagine the 3" pipe would be a good addition? If I understand correctly, the more air I take in (blower), the more air I need to exhaust. I have the 2.8" pulley on order to increase to 6 psi boost and an Apexi SAFCii Limited Edition A/F computer. So if I understand correctly, theonly thing left is the mid-section of pipe that is less than 2.25" in diameter and my catalytic converter from the original exhaust. If I replace the mid-section to 3", don't I still need to adapt down to the opening of the catalytic converter? If I have to adapt down, don't I restrict the air-flow anyhow? I want maintain the ability to pass the smog test so I think I need to keep the cat in there?.?. I don't know what the diameter of the TRD exhaust is but I'm pretty sure it is less than 3". It wouldn't help to have the mid-section of pipe larger than the end section would it? Thanks again for the help and suggestions, I'm learning. Sorry I didn't list the mods, see below. -JoeB

if you take the car to the shop, have them install a high-flow cat, and 2.5 or 3' pipping. if you get 3' pipping, then your TRD muffler will be the bottle neck, since those are 2.25 pipping.

OK, I sure feel stupid  . I didn't even realize what a great thing I have. I actually have a high-flow cat on my JPP Y-Pipe AND it passed the MD state emissions test! So, my exhaust is 3" all the way back to the mid-section of pipe where I guess it goes down to stock 2", then the TRD exhaust which I believe is 2.25". Just plain common sense says that if I hit a 2" section of pipe along the way, I'm seriously restricting the engines ability to exhaust air. I've got an RMM intake and a S/C with a 6psi pulley (coming next week) to get the air in but that does limited good if the engine can't exhaust the air that comes in. The backpressure from the constricted exhaust will restrict the amount of air that can come in. If I learned correctly from you guys...

Well the SECOND I figured this out, I placed an order for the 3" exhaust from JPP! Those guys do GREAT work. I'm very impressed with the headers and Y-Pipe I got from them. Thanks for the help and being patient. -JoeB

TRDMole177, you're right, 2 exhausts. I really liked the TRD exhaust too, it had a nice sound and was an easy mod when I was just getting started. Looks like I might have a TRD exhaust that I'd let go cheap soon. It just makes sense. -JoeB

In my garage I have the Greddy catback system, and my entire stock setup.. from thje engine back... as well as Jp's entire exhaust system on my car... and I think the Jp is (in my opinion) the best, as well as unbeatable...
