Window motor trouble - anyone?

Window motor trouble - anyone?

Anyone else out there have trouble with their window motors? I have a '99 SLE Solara with 36k miles on it. About 6-9 months ago my driver's side window motor went out. Now my passenger side window won't work from either switch. Just curious if this is a common problem or am I alone. Is it easy to replace the motor? The dealer handled it under waranty last time but not this time (miles and age). -JoeB

OK, that was wierd. I just went out with my tool box and multimeter to figure this one out and it was working fine. Maybe a loose connection? Before, I tried driver's side window switch for the passenger window, passenger side window switch and the window lock button and the window wouldn't move. Oh well, maybe the toolbox scared the problem away. -JoeB

I had this same problem with my driver's side window with my 99 Camry. It would roll down fine but sometimes it wouldn't roll up at all, or only a few inches at a time every few minutes. I had to stop rolling it down because sometimes it wouldn't roll back up for hours. The dealer looked at it and quoted over $400 to install a new motor. They told me that a few people had this problem. I traded my car in for my Solara instead of having this done. :D

If it's an intermittent problem, it sounds more like the contacts are going bad in the regulator than the motor. I've never had the trim panel off so I don't know if the parts are an assembly of what.

I had a similar problem with a '92 Accord that I fixed for a while after cleaning the contacts.
