Engine design: Mostly Japan, Europe for "race" engines
Car design: Mostly Japan, some Europe, only Solara is 100% in USA
Factories: Almost all countries. Why? To reduce cost of shipping.
Everything is still Japanese: small and efficient, but being built in the USA doesn't mean it's domestic. EX: The FREMONT, CA plant. It is shared by Toyota and GM... however, Toyota products that come out of there are still superior. They use the same machines. Why? Because of R&D =D also because Toyota has harder hiring standards(and higher pay)... but yea =P
