Checklist for purchasing USED RIMS

I live in Columbus, Ohio...and I don't know too much about the roads everywhere else...but they REALLY REALLY SUCK!

I wasn't paying too much attention yesterday and ran into a pot-hole. My second since this past winter. My second impact break since this past winter. I'm kind of pissed off. I mean, I'm driving perfectly well in the middle of the lane...I don't expect for my stinking tires to run into trouble that often. Is that not a reasonable expectation?

One good thing is, I was thinking about getting rims for my car. There is someone selling Enkei 5 Plus 17" with some used tires (60% tread) for about $550. I'm thinking about getting those rims instead of replacing my stock 15" tires for the winter.

Do you guys have suggestions for what I should check before I spend what little money I have? Are there little tricks I should use to make sure the rims are in good shape? Like roll them to make sure they're symmetical or something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go to a tire shop and they can check for bent rims...

What they will do is... spin the wheels on a machine.

i highly doubt i'm going to buy these used rims. my friend gets some catalog called "tire & wheel & accessories - Buying Guide." The rims I REALLY want are the TSW Revo. :D

The price on those are just $119 each. That's new rims with warranties...no rubber yet, but then again, I get to choose what I put on.

in my opinion...if u drive on bad roads...get rims that aren't too expensive...that way u wont get too pissed if u crack them or they get bent...etc....tsw r ok...they come with the trd kit...so....

If you drive on bad roads, you shouldn't get bigger rims and lower profile tires... that's just asking for trouble.

If I ever have to buy rims again, it will be a set of forged 1 piece rims.

the only way to go, IMO.

also, make sure to put a thicker profile tire on it (to absorb more shock) if you drive on crappy roads.

Kronos98,

I've found another set of TSW Revo @ ebay. Wish you lots of luck on this one. This set looks new.
