Why do you need a vent anyways, it's useless.

if a vent is put after the radiator (like evolutions) or behind the s/c it may help alleviate heat build up hiding in the engine bay.

How much of a perfomance difference could that possibly make though?

not everything is for performance. it just aids in relieving some heat away from the engine. just think of raising the safety margin.

I will gain the most benefit with vent hood....the turbo is terriblely hot. I plan to cut the metal hood after i tune my car.

a hood scoop from an alltrac or 4runner would aid you in doing such with your existing OEM hood. (if your wanting to vent the heat, then i'd suggest the RC celica hood vent's, and the side vents). I think those look awesome..i know on the solara lines they could look weird....but as those are the best looking vents/scoops i think would mate with OEM hoods (if anyone was adventurous)....as far as preexisting cf hoods with vents, i'm sure it would entail a GB that no many in the toyota community can live up to! (sadly)

i really like the invader hood but dont know how it would look on a solara. My friend owns a carbon fiber shop in FL and he told me that there is a vented hood for solara that JUN produces, but I havent been able to find it yet.
