My small weekend project

My small weekend project

Postby Raw-lara » Mon Sep 05, 2011 5:10 pm

My 20's were killing me on gas . I found some stocks for hella cheap ($200 w/ tires) and they looked like sh*t but they didnt have any actual damage such as curb rash or dents so I picked them up. I spent a weekend trying to bring the life out of them and this was my results. A little aircraft remover, wet sanding , and a lot of buffing

After I finished the wheels I obviously had to give my baby a wash. I opened the hood and thought to myself "I wonder if I can do anything with that ugly OEM strut bar" so I took it out and got to work! My convertible is a mettalic black so I painted the strut to give it a little two-tone look ( lol I was just lazy to polish the small grooves by hand but it turned out ok)

Very nice. Reminds me of when my buddy gave me some cheap GSR blades and I spent a while polishing them up. Great job :)

thx guys! I know my work wasnt the best but this was my first time trying to polish out some wheels and Im somewhat satisfied with my results

yea I had 18's before but to me they just didnt look right unless the car is slammed. I had 19's on my old solara and it looked clean so Ill probably be looking for another set soon.

Well I already had rolled my fenders when I had 18's because it was slammed but I went back to stock suspension and I had to do 1.5" wheel adapters on the rear because the strut was in the way. After pushing the wheels out on the rear it was ok (it actually gave it a "more" staggered look) but the wheels did stick out a little in the rear. Also because of the Hawaii roads being uneven I had raised the rear 1" with blocks . It only rubbed when there was dips in the roadway
