Possible Engine swap?

How limited is the solara when it comes to engine swaps?

Wondering if i could fit something more powerful into it such as a chevy v8 smallblock?

Is it possible or no?

About the best "easy" swap you can do would be a 1mz 3mz hybrid

But then again 99.99999% of people who ask questions like this never get past a short ram intake but w/e

Have no idea about the details (yet), but I have thought that the V-8 out of a Lexus SC 430 might fit in a Solara with some challenging modifications. Since the V-6 is laid on its side for hood clearance, the V-8 should fit that way too. At least you'd be closer to mating this engine to the Solara trans. Couldn't use the SC trans because the driveshaft comes out the back. There may not be enough body width in the Solara since the SC is north-south power with rear wheel drive and the Solara powertrain runs east-west with front drive. But that would be quite a trick Toyota........almost factory V-8 Solara.

Guess you'd have to find an SC that was totalled from the rear bumper to the back seat! Maybe I'll try it one day if I end up with a buncha money I don't need and a month to play with it.

That's actually a pretty good idea, never thought bout a SC engine swap. It'd probably be way easier than a small block.

The deeper we get into this topic, the more irrational its become. Granted, ANYTHING could be done but you gotta pay to play. Your best options are to COMPLETELY build a 1MZ or 3MZ/1MZ hybrid. (approx. $5000+/-). Good luck.

^^ Agreed. I think (dont quote me on this) another possible swap would be a 3SGTE, but I'd only go that route if i had a 5s, since the 2az is fairly easy to turbocharge. I dont know how involved modifying the motor mounts would be, or if its required at all

I say go for the V8 if you can fit a small block in a CRX you should be able to do it in a solara.
