HID HELP

Postby Bippusol » Thu Nov 17, 2011 5:06 pm

picking up some HID's from a local shop soon
I've done research and I still have questions:

Can I install HID's in my stock Gen1 reflector housing?
Is there a DIY to eliminate the bottom glare?
what temp should I go with?

money is tight so i really don't wanna spend too much on making/buying the projectors, can the bottom glare be eliminated via another solution?
I was really looking forward to payin around 70$ for them, and plug & play and be done with it.
But my concern is glaring the $hit out of other drivers & getting a ticket for them :b

I was thinking 5k or 6k. Likes? Dislikes?

Like 99% of the people with HIDs on a Gen 1 have NOT gone the retrofit route.

And no, you cannot get rid of any of the imperfections without going projectors.

And to keep from blinding other drivers, park 20 ft or so away from a wall on a level surface and aim the lights down. There's a grey screw on the back of the housing that will let you do this. I believe it's CCW for going down, CW for going up.

I have hids on stock housing and it's not that bad I angled it down a bit like the post above mentioned but not a lot to noticed a difference.
However I have never had anyone high beamed me before and had it for almost a year.
The only input I would add is to get 30 or 35 watt one and not get the 50w one where it'll be super bright so check with whoever you're buying from to see what's the watt output

I have 35watt 6000k on my car, been highbeamed from incoming traffic at the light before and also a cop put his spotlight on me while I drove out of work one night, but haven't gotten a ticket yet *knocks on wood*. Once in awhile I will check that the light angle isn't pointed too high. Planning to go with a 5k soon.
