Why won't my wheels fit?

Why won't my wheels fit?

Postby janello77 » Mon Mar 19, 2012 1:48 pm

I just bought a set of 07 G35 rims. They are 17 x 7.5 with a 45mm offset. Tires are 225/55R17. I put one on the back and when I let the car down the strut is laying ontop of the tire. I don't understand cause I have seen cars on this site with the same wheel and tire size. It doesn't even look close to clearing on my car. I'm just heartbroken right now.

Tires too thick and maybe bad offset.

I just don't get it cause looking at the pic of your car your wheels look way bigger.

You need a 45 series tire and a 5mm spacer at least.

And I misspoke, I think you could get away with 225/50/17

Play with that for awhile.

Don't forget spacers in the rears and make sure that the rims is not hitting the strut on the side...

I don't think he'd need spacers since I got away with +45 on an 18x7.5 wheel.

Thanks for the help guys you really put my mind at ease. My plan now is try and trade my brand new 225/55R17's for a set of lightly used 225/45R17's. I will throw them on and then go with spacers if need be. I paid $450 for the set so it's still not a bad deal. Im going to try and put some pics up
