Finished the prototype today. I still need to weld a mounting tab on the side of the extension other than that its done and is currently running on my 99 solara se v6 5 speed. , this is a custom made extension specifically for a 99-03 solara v6, and should also fit the 97-01 camry v6.

Before we started Stock air box 99 Solara SE V6

OEM airbox and OEM intake snorkel in fender removed, battery temp. removed, injen intake installed, loosening up fuse box to allow clearance for extension install
Image
Installing extension, there is a bracket coming off the bumper cover than connects to the frame, disconnect that bracket at the frame and pull the bracket out of the way, this will allow you to slide the extension down into the fender. The extension is tough to get down in the fender without moving the bumper cover bracket.

I realize the intake moves back behind the stock fog light location. This does not mean removal of the fog light correct? (Permanently I mean.)

Yeah I was wondering about that.
It extends behind our fog lights
so wouldn't you need a shield of some sort?
or do you just avoid puddles

and yeah from the previous post would you be required to remove your fog lights?

Let me put it this way....if you're driving in water deep enough to submerge the filter, you deserve to hydro-lock the engine.

There's a tutorial of the install. And I installed mine without removing the foglight, fender or the fuse box. It's not fun, but it's possible

IIRC, the filter sits in the fender at a point a little below the level of the HEADLIGHT, not the fog light.

Search "upfd extension". this extension is a great mod and you guys are very lucky that gabe is willing to build a batch. Take the fog light out? Not sure what you've been reading. The filter sits directly behind the headlight, protected from water by the fender liner, directly under the engine bay fuse box. You would have to cross a river to need to worry about taking in water. Should be good, as long as you have a fender liner in. Even without a fender liner, you would still have to be in DEEP water, and sitting still, to hurt the motor.
