On Monday night my motor finally went out. Had its last race against a fox body 5.0 stang. (i still won) lol Didnt blow when i was racing him it took a crap as soon as i got home. Start puffing blue smoke at idle. I popped the hood and i had a lake of oil everywhere in the engine bay. The dipstick only showed oil at the very tip. And by tuesday morning it didnt start.

So the journey begins. Ill keep you guys posted.

Come on man, if you're gonna blow it up, you gotta make it dramatic....like spraying a 150 dry shot or a piston coming through the hood lol. Is your other one ready to drop in?

Well i bought the engine from greg the day after mine went out. I took the heads off and noticed one of the cylinders was pitted and cratered. So i cant use it unless i re sleeve the block. i went through 2 performance machine shops one of them quoted me 800 for the re sleeving :( and another shop which seemed to be a little more knowledgeable on what they were talking about told me i have to use a dry sleeve and they carry a brand called Darton. The infiniti/nissan crow uses them and the honda people too. So he told me resleeving an aluminum block is going to be expensive. He said i will be better off boring it and getting larger pistons. So im not financially ready to do something that major on my car yet. So he told me to take out my old motor tear it apart and see how the block looks. He doesnt think my block will be bad. He believes its only the piston rings that went out and that caused the damage. He then said he hone my block out do their full service:
Honing
deck resurfacing
block hot tanking
also change the bearings
they are also going to micro blast it and give that "new" look again

To the heads they will pretty much resurface the heads inspect the valves
and change a few things there too, check for any cracks or leaks and also micro blast it.

I beleive all this should be just under 1k. Their also going to help me source a thicker headgasket so i dont have to run into the high compression issue.

A lot of work, and money thats making me broke. I will probably put my corolla up for sale till this car gets back on the road. I might sell a few parts. im not too sure. Wheels/ coilovers. I dont know yet though.

I now have ARP head studs. MLS Metal headgaskets. Motor is coming out hopefully by next week. I got a quote for 1800 at TG's Performance about 20 Minutes from my house.
Boring the block
Decking the block
Polished Crank
Reconditioning connecting rods
over sized anodized pistons
Freeze plug kit
Main bearings
Rod bearings

Heads
3 angle valve job
Resurface
valve adjustment

Micro blast heads and block
assembly of short block

pretty much thats it.

yeah same block! it served me well bro i cant let this engine go to waste it was a strong engine from the beginning. Just the fact that it almost hit 290whp on only 5.5psi. At the time i was dynoed there was a few only hitting 260.
