That is sexy as hell. How long did it take to do the entire process including prep and spray?

I would dedicate a whole day to it again. It took me about 6 hours. But the one rule, The better the prep, the better the result. Once i get the new motor swapped in im going to respray a different color. idk what yet though. Maybe green.

Okay sounds good. I definitely wanna dip the car now. What kit did you order and did you need to buy anything additional?

Go to dipyourcar.com and buy the Pro car kit. The only other things you will need to buy is prep stuff (if you dont add that to the kit) and xylene from your local lowes/home depot. Watch videos and learn it will be worth it. I'm planning on starting to do it on the side. We have a 80's Mustang, 03 focus SVT, and GMC SUV lined up already. Should be lots of fun.

Whats the xylene for? I thought the kit comes with the wax and grease remover.

@2Gud2BTru
Its to clean the gun after your done spraying and to clean and fix spots.

Main bearing went bad. It had been randomly misfiring for about 3 months. Not often maybe once a month. But driving home one day i heard the engine go. kinda like a piston ring went and was rattling inside. Brought it home. let it sit for 30 minutes, went outside to start it ad it was siezed.

Oh wow. Well either you drop a stock 1mz in there. Or you can drop a full 3mz with a 5speed in there, Youll love the power, and later you can supercharge it. 3MZ are fairly cheap. with the money youll spend on a 1MZ it would be better to drop a 3MZ, Newer engine, and more power. You cant go wrong :D

Thats what we are looking at doing. IIRC it is a direct fit correct? We were trying to find a newer 1mz that didnt have the bad valve covers on it. but a 3mz is easier to come by

Also what about my SRI+extension would they fit fine. Just dont know enough about the specs..

Yup bolts right in, and yes the intake will still fit the same.

Cool so trans will fit also? Since mine is a 5-speed i obviously wanna keep that. lol Is it the same block as the 1mz? Also ECU. Need the one from the 3mz right? i know they have vvti which has been debated if its good or bad.

So Im thinking of dipping my roof as there are some scratches I'd like to hide. I also think a black roof looks cool on most cars. I've worked with plastidip before and love the stuff. Im going to spray my roof black and then throw the glossifier over top to make it more substantial and not matte black. Wondering around their youtube page last night made me really want to redip my wheels (didnt like matte) and hit the matte wheels with a metallizer. Either silver or copper looked great when done over a black base coat.

A black roof does work on most cars. The glossifier should help make it ten times easier to clean too since it just slides off from the smooth texture of the glossifier.. Those both would look great. The new metallizers look like fun.
