The damned Check Engine Light

The damned Check Engine Light

Postby esculatus » Sat Oct 25, 2003 12:14 pm

This is the continuing saga of the st00pid check engine light. I had my intake switched into a newly suerpcharged (s/c) gen 1 solara. All the hoses are connected properly and the light just have to come on. Code still reads lean at idle. But when I switch back to the stock airbox, it's okay. I really dont know wtf is wrong. btw... I had my intake on for 200 miles and it was okay.

any help is appreciated

Eric

Your intake was sucking too much air in and make the engine runs lean. Just stick with the stock airbox.

I agree. I think short ram intakes are useless POS mods. Most people who have had them for any length of time, at least on our cars, end up getting rid of them. If you can get a decent CAI, that's a different story.

God damned his engine light. That makes perfect sense.

You are thinking too much.

BACK ON TOPIC, I would say just stick with your stock airbox and sell the cheap Short Ram Air, I mean now you have a Real Power gaining mod in the supercharger, you don't need the POS intake anymore.

I have the same problem and was wondering if I keep the short ram and continue running lean at idle for a while till I get a SAFC-II will I hurt anything?

stay with the stock box i think K&n makes a better panel filter to use with the stock aribox....or better yet remove the stock box and just change the filter and leave everything else the way it is... So WHOSE GONNA DELETE MY POST NEXT?

the spark plugs will get dirty quicker if you are running lean.
