Brake sensor, how easy? Service guy ripping me off?

They tried to charge me $100 for a radiator flush. Maybe I'm crazy but that seems a little too pricey to have your radiator flushed. He insisted they had a special process. When I asked about their process he just made some analogy and got off the subject as if I was some idiot.

The service guy kept trying to rip me off.

He tried to convince me I absolutely needed an "induction cleaning" which I finally got him to tell me it was just cleaning the spark plugs. Guess how much? $100!!! $110 to have them replaced.

I said "no thank you."

But I usually go to the dealer for a straight answer for what I need (and the recommended maintenance) but they're MUCH worse than small shops on the corner.

I did fall for the sensor and I didn't know enough to argue with it. The brake sensor was bad, intermittently turned brake light on the dash, and he charged me $250 for that and to have my brake fluid replaced. I'm pretty sure I got ripped off on that :(

when i got my springs put in the installer accidently stepped on the ABS line and broke it...since they were doing it they replaced the line and i think it was like a 100-150 line to replace...which is funny cuz they agreed to install my springs for 100 and that's what they charged borken abs line and all.

Same thing happened to me when I had my springs and struts installed. The idiot mechanic snapped the line, and they said around $250 to fix it also. There has to be a cheaper alternative.

No, most likely it is just that a bulb in your taillight is going bad or that you are low on brake fuild.

The only reason they ran into problems is because during the suspension install, something was damaged

The problem is due to careless so-called mechanics that do NOT support the rear axle carriers when the car is lifted up. Thus, the speed sensor and/or brake line wires get pulled down, causing the ABS light to blink in a periodic pattern and TRACtion light to come on (on A/T). Typically, it's the speed sensor that goes bad, and unless you know how to replace it, it's not a DIY.
