Tein SS v JIC FLT-A2

Tein SS v JIC FLT-A2

Postby Jackass-Jeff » Mon Dec 08, 2003 12:38 am

Tein SS rides smoother, has less road noise, handles about the same and costs $500 less than the JIC set up (MSRP prices, street price... i dunno)

I wrote a long review comparing these 2 and the Eibach/Tokico setup and the Tein/Tokico set up but the stupid post errored and once I pressed "BACK"... it was gone! I got pissed so I'm not gonna rewrite the damn thing!

Tein settings: (Riding on 18x8)
Drop: 1 finger front/back clearance from tire
Damper Force: Softest setting (0)
MSRP: 1350

JIC settings: (Riding on 19x8.5)
Drop: 1 finger front / 1.5 finger back ?
Damper Force: Softest setting (0)
MSRP: 1800

The Tein SS feels smoother than stock while the JIC makes you feel all the bumps (although he said it's on the softest setting). The road noise is about the same w/ Tein while the JIC increases it. You only hear the hard bumps/potholes w/ the Tein. The JIC lets you feel most of it. The handling is about the same. The Tein has 16 levels of adjustability while the JIC only has 15 (big deal... I'm sure they are similar).

psst!! dont forget the complexity of the FLT-A2.... the Tein SS would compare to the JIC SF-1.

plus Tein coils do not come with pillow ball joints, that has camber control from the top.

that ladies and gentlmen is the difference in price. Both are good companies. I have no bias, however i do have the JIC's.

also, fyi on FLT's, you can go super slammed, having the wheels tucked in the fender well, regardless on what size of rim/tire

Mike's ride is way better than Richard's.

Pillowball mounts... =P I guess if you want to tuck that badly... hahaha Chris is tucking and his damn rear is butterflying =P

Let me take a ride in your car again Mike =P It was smoother than Richard's, but I don't remember exactly how smooth

Aren't you supposed to keep it at the hardest settings according the the manual?

It's adjustable to your preferences. Typically, for best handling, you'd want the back to be near the stiffest setting while the front is slightly softer than the rear, but fine tuning is needed for each vehicle and driver's needs.

The Tein come defaulted to the hardest, but tell you to set it back 10 clicks to the standard middle setting. From that, you can move either way depending on your handling and ride quality preferences.

the only prob w/ the FLT's on the MCV20L is that the damn damper control is on the bottom b/c of its sh*tty inverse monotube design. otherwise controlling the damper adjustment would be a breeze.

hmm did you guys drill holes in the interior to have a quicker access to the adjustment? or are you guys still driving without an interior haha?

I really wonder how it would care to the Bilstein/Eibach combo... I know for one thing that being able to adjust is always good haha.

ok, im in a pickle.

Tein SS: 975
JIC flta2: 1350
JIC flta1: 750
JIC sf1: around the same as flta1

these are the prices i can get them at, dont ask me how, sorry i cant hook it up. i just wanna know what u guys would do. im thinkin JIC right now just because of the upper pillow mount and camber adjustable stuff. thats kinda important to me. and correct me if im wrong, but all 3 jic C.O.'s have that right? and i also wanna know what the big diff is between the flta2 and flta1...

ok, i've decided to go w/ the flta1's, but my hookup price went up another 100 cuz i didnt think about tax and he said he cant get me the full employee discount. so it ended up being about 1000 even out the door.

So i called jic and asked them about the setup and i talked to this guy for a while and he said if i can get about 2-3 buyers, we can get the flta1 for 1100 out the door. it'd be better local, but if you dont mind shipping charges PM me. if anyone is interested let me know. 1100 out the door is the best he could do, so please PM me asap cuz they only have about 4 in stock.
