04 Splash / Mud Guards

I am looking for some 04 aftermarket splash guards. Dealer telling me that they are not offered yet by Toyota. Also thinking about side molding to protect from door dings but hate to ruin the lines. Painted trim & guards would help. Ideas anyone?

04 Mud / splash quard

Did not understand your question until I looked at your car and saw you lived in CA. Makes sense now. We have about 150+ more rainy days a year than you and I have to drive over two miles of unpaved road everyday. Your car, especially a black color, would not be so nice looking after a few trips. Plus you would hate to hear the gravel hitting the painted underside behind each tire. Not a nice sound.

Mitch,

I typically got splash guards for all my past cars, too. I felt the added protection lessened stone chips. I was all set to get splash guards for my 04 when I discovered clear bras. I had clear bra material put on the front bumper, about one-third of the hood, and on the headlights. Then the install guy said he could cut special sizes to cover the rocker panels and area just behind the wheel wells (the area a splash guard would protect). I asked him if this would cover as much area as a splash guard. He asked me the pattern of splash on my car after a rain. After he said that I realized where he suggested putting the clear bra stuff would easily be enough coverage. It's well into winter here in Wisconsin. I've washed my car only once and (knock on wood) have not found one chip.

To have all this clear bra stuff put on with installation cost me (have it professionally done) $500.00. A lot more than splash guards, but a lot better looking in my opinion.

mud guards for 04

Postby Mitch1812 » Thu Jan 15, 2004 9:04 pm

fotodad - Thanks for the idea. My 04 has the 3M invisaguard product installed. Never thought about applying to fender well behind the wheel in lieu of guards. Will give it a go - :o

Mud Guards

Postby solrchrgd » Fri Jan 16, 2004 2:31 am

I just bought a set of four Mud Guards for my sisters 04 Camry. Unfortunately they aren't offered in body color, black plastic only. Here's the part number 08414-33810.

invisigard thing is useful. too bad you can do the whole car in it. you can just hose your car down and it would be clean again.

Re having invisiguard done. Don't forget under the door handles and door edges. Dealer had it done before I bought the car and both of the above were covered. Works great. :D
