Here is the history of the car: One previous owner, lady driven before me, don't know how good she was about changing the oil at proper intervals though. I bought it last March with 97k. Did timing belt, water pump, plugs, s/c, suspension.

It burns about 1 quart of oil every 3k using 30 weight oil. It burned 1.5 - 2 quarts using 5w or 10w 30. I think that the reason for the oil loss is it's blowing by the rings and burning up in the exhaust because I have never seen blue or white smoke. I'm not terrible concerned about the present oil situation because the 1mz's are tough and it's good for at least another 50k and that's the longest I'd to keep it anyway.

The thing is, I'd like to treat myself to a little more power this spring, but I think the extra boost might be parasitic to engine life. We do have 93 octance gas so blowing knock sensors is not a conern. Anybody have a similar situation or have some advice?

Headers are out of the question 'cause I don't want to spend that kind of money.
