Title says it all. I see two clips. Haynes says theyres four, but they only show you two, and the most obvious ones at that.

this is for a 5SFE if that matters

2 clips and like a hinge holding it on the bottom unclip and pull towards you slightly and it will come off. the 4cyl is the same as the v6. 1mzfe and 5sfe respectively

It's definatly two clips.
Just pull up and towards you after releasing the clips. You will feel resistantce but you will get it off. Nothing holding it down clip wise on the otherside. You need to pull towards you and up to remove.

I did that two clips then pull thing. I couldnt get it all the way off though, just enough to sneak out the filter. I thought there was a way to get it completely off, but I guess not.

BTW, after driving for 45K, theres some interesting things stuck on there. I think im ready for a K&N drop in.

Yeah you do have two sensors hooked on to it and it's still connected to the intake hose so... those things got to go if you want it completely off. I never had to completely remove it just to change out the filter. Two clips...sneak it open and remove the old filter/put in the new one.

Did you ever spray Fuel Injector cleaner down the throttle body? Try that and it will clear things up for you.

Good Luck.

Ok. So just gona provide this just in case... With the miles you have I would be doing the following if not already done.

#1. Change your sparkplugs and wires > www.sparkplugs.com <Great Site!
#2. Replace or clean your PCV valve / (Shake it) if it rattles easily then no need to replace just use item on #4 to clean it.
#3. Add Fuel Injector Cleaner into your gas tank. Here is an example of what the bottle looks like... I recommend Valvoline ... Image
#4. Fuel Injector Throttle Body Cleaner (Item on the left in the pic above)
Remove the Air Intake Tube from the throttle body and spray vigorously into the throttle body by opening up the 'butterfly' (You know that round piece that moves when you hit the gas peddle) well push it to the left and it will open up the butterfly so you can spray at will into the throttle body.

O and of coarse... replace the air filter.

Good Luck.
Let me know if you need anything else.
