I've just installed the 194 white LED for the license plate, and I'm pretty surprise, the light is almost as with a regular bulb. No spot light, it's beautiful. I'm gonna try soon with the gauge.

thx for the info...

my cig tray light stopped working...

here's how to fix it without braking it or the protection lid bellow it.

- remove the ash tray and the cig lighter
- remove the midle front pannel... by pulling on it from where the tray was... it will pop-out (no need to completely take it out with all the wires... just popout the bottom part, you will see the wire going where the try light is, just pull on it and you're bulb will be stuck in it.

i dont know what kind of bulb it is but it looks wiered... i will go to canadian tier tomorrow to get it replaced... i hope i can find a brighter one.

it's a #74 bulb. careful when pulling it out. DONT use pliers obviously, take a rubberband, wrap it around it the best you can then get a small piece of sand paper. grip on it. pull out. easy as cake.
Thats what I did for mine, it was np.

here's a few pics. my whole car, interior at least is all led. and exterior-wise its all stock except the license plate lights, and the underglow is leds.

I haven't had time yet to change my clock to led/red yet but I will soon.

My license plate light is like the new lexus GS license plate color, pure white not yellow of any kind. smooth.

here are a few pics.

What are you using for your licence plate light? (I dont see pic of your licence plate).

Newer Lexus use white CCFL. Most people use white LED to "look like" Lexus,it does a good job bu it's not the "real thing".

I think about putting a 12" white CCFL for licence plate, but Im worry that it light too much hehe. I had white LED but one burn, so Im back to stock. Today one of my gauges LED start blinking, probably just "loose" but I will maybe needs to buy 1 on ebay to replace it.

BTW cute girl ;)

I use 1 5wedge 194 bulb (pair) off of superbrightleds.com ..
it is juts as bright as the lexus's if not more. but its not overly bright either since the housing shines downwards.

lol she is, one of my models, more to come soon ;)

Re: Complete lighting guide for Gen1/1.5 (Interior and Exter

Postby dinoxor » Tue Nov 02, 2010 10:12 pm

sorry for the thread revival, but I looked everywhere and still can't find an exact answer.

so is the the dome's light size 194 or, according to sylvania website, DE3423?
and the is the map light 194 as well?
I'm planning on ordering some leds soon and don't wanna go through the trouble of buying the wrong light size :[

jon your post was interesting and thorough. Maybe you can help me remove my gauge cluster. I have replaced most of the lamps in your post in my Gen 1 but I want to freshen up the bulbs in the cluster. If you could give me some tips I could find my way but I just don’t know where to start get the cluster out.

Thanks for your help :D
