This information is not needed because you all will keep asking the questions again and again and again anyway

That is funny i was just searching for a good explanation of this. why do rim sets range from (with tires!!) 500 to 5000

i would assume you get what you pay for still applies but what would be the lowest you would pay for a tire/rim combo

18 x 8?

and what offset is safe to use in regards to going wider... or a lower # for 2000 solara v6 auto?

and what tire sizes(width) fit what rims?

and what heights (30,35,40,45,50) are ok for what rim sizes in regards to solaras?

any input on these would be greatly appreciated also

thanks! :D

18x8 w/ +45 fits about flush w/ the fender...

225 is the recommended low profile tire size on a 8 inch wide rim. OEM, however, (using Lexus) uses 245 on the 8 inch wide wheels.

225/40 18
245/35 18 (if you feel dangerous)

there's a lot of combos... find the rims you want and the size then we'll answer questions... it's a waste of time to post every single combo since most people here go for 18s, 19s, and, occassionally, 20s.

Rims that are really expensive usually are forged rather than cast. Cast rims (like mine) can easily be bought for about 130/rim somewhere like tires.com...if you see a wheel that goes for anything less than 500/rim, you are probably getting something that is cast and not forged. You want forged if you can get anywhere close to affording it. otherwise, your rim runs the high risk of cracking (like mine) and then you being sh1t out of luck because the wheel company has discontinued that rim (like mine).

i have come across a few forged sets in my price range but it is hard to find correct sizes offsets etc..i was trying to find used on ebay to save cash but i think ill go new

what is the max offset in a rim solaras can fit ?

i assume it is dependent on width etc..?

how about a ballpark figure or base figure i can work from?

i was set on 19's but not sure now. how much ride comfort will i use with 19's? 18's?

this is my first set of new rims and first time that i actually care about correct fitment.

first car over $8000 ya know?

Ok so if I get a 18x8.5 rim, what offset do I need front/back to fit 250 or 260 width tires? Can I use a lower (wider) offset on the back than front? Whats the widest 18 inch tire I can put on the front, with any offset, without it rubbing?

this tutorial is so that you understand before buying rims =\

I think the offset for 'flush fit' on 8.5 inch wide is 43

250, 260... they make tires in those sizes? I thought it always ended in 5.

Don't go staggered... it's sad when people realize it's a FF

LOL yeah I decided against staggered. OK so here we go, I want to go with 18x8.5 axis hiro rim, with a 43 offset which will sit the outer rim flush with the fender, and for tires probably either a 245x45 or 255x45, or a 245x50. Any ideas on what sizes will fit and not rub? Staggering turned out to be too expensive and a waste of money. Thanks for the advice!

245/40 might even be too big... it's ok if you're not lowered, but you'll have 4x4 status.

Ok I think I need something explained here, whats the dif between a 245x40, and a 245x50? Just that the 50 is thicker top to bottom right? The 245 connotates the width of the tire correct? So a 245x40 would be just as wide as the 245x50, but thinner? Am i correct? My car is lowered, what im going for is the widest POSSIBLE tires on my car, the height of the tire im not too concerned with. I want my car as low to the ground as possible, with the widest tire possible. If I put on the 18x8.5's, with the correct offset and my ride is lowered, whats the best tire size IYO? One more thing, arent the rear fenders pushed out slightly further than the front? I was considering using a higher offset on the back, say a 43 front and 35 back? Or something like that. WHat do you think?

Yes, 245x40 is the same width, but not as tall as 245x50. 40% and 50% of 245, in this case.

I have a high offset (50) in the front w/ 8 inch rims... it's flush. Rear can fit 8.5 w/ the proper offset to be flush. 35 is too little. 38 w/ 8.5 rear is the right now (or was it 43?)

Front should be 8 +45 *if you really want 8.5* then get +43

crap im confused. Ok so if I go with the 8.5s ill need a 43 offset for the front rims and a slightly higher, like 38 or something, offset for the rear? Also, Im thinking about getting the axis mod, its a 18x7.5, what would the corresponding offsets be for the front/back? ONe last thing, and YES I do appreciate your help (really I do!) can I fit a wider tire on my car with the slightly narrorwer rim? I know that maybe doesnt make sense, im just curious. BTW anyone on here got an opinion for a red solara? Axis hiro, or axis mod with the lip in back...
