not knocking you guy but this is more confusing than it is help.

dont take offense cuz i know you prolly know your shiiit but you have multiple offsets listed above and all say they will ride flush?

i know you can not list every combo so may i make a suggestion?

how about some of the more popular combos? i personally am trying to decide between 18's and 19's and i would like to retain as much ride comfort as i can with either. example would 245/50/19 fiy a solara? or does it depend on the offset of the rim?

or how about some limits like max offsets, rim size, tires sizes etc..

i am still trying to determine what i want for a rim set and i am not understanding this post completely. i do understand what all the numbers mean just dont know what my 20000 solara is capable of handling

or if anyone know a link to info on this subject that might help

thanks

Question-what are the offsets I need front/rear for a 18x7.5 set of rims? Im going with the axis mods. I hope to put 245-40's on there.

I got 18x7.5 rims with 225/45/18 on my 2003 solara. The offset is 42. It just fits perfect and the ride quality is still very good

245/40 to big? are you refering to width?

Yeah I wanna know as well, will I have to get 245 35's? I really like wider tires, better handling.

I was saying the sidewall would be too tall due to 40% of 245 being 98.

245 40 R 18 = 98
225 40 R 18 = 90

It will fit but your car will look almost stock height... due to the sidewall height.

255 35 R 18 may be doable though 89.25 LOL!! But 255 is too wide... you'd need 9 inch wide wheels

I'm just saying that you may hit the fender well more due to the lowering, damper setting and tire size.

Wait what youre saying doesnt make sense, a 225 40 18 has a thinner sidewall than a 245? WTF??? I thought only a 245 was taller than a 240? So a 245 isnt too wide, but too tall, even if its 245-40? What about 245 35 ?

See? A 255 35 will fit an 8.5 inch rim, which is how wide mine are going to be. Would that fit in the wheelwell? Are you saying a 245 40 wont?

I didn't do that math when I said it. It actually will =P since I did the math since you guys brought this post up again.

Isn't 255 a bit excessive for a front wheel drive car?

Well define excessive! Im looking at it like this-Im buying 18 inch axis hiro rims. They are 18.5. YES I have been talking about what rims Im gonna get for months now(im picky) and now that I have picked these, I want the widest tires I can fit without rubbing. Its a handling issue, the wider your tires the better theyll stick. So im curious, a 255 35 will fit and not rub? With say, a 45 offset in front, 35 in back. But a 245 40 wont? How about a 235 40? Im curious, will I notice a big handling difference between these sizes?
