Tint

Postby JMSinMaryland » Wed Nov 16, 2005 8:53 am

1)Go to walmart and look for a brand called Axius. Get 20% (35% doesnt work well). It will be about $12 and come in 26x78 inches.

2)Measure tint around light, allow extra material and cut appro size of your light.

3)Apply windex (ammonia free which is clear) on taillight and inside of tint

4)Smooth down tint (including air, windex, etc) using a credit card wrapped inside a couple of pieces of paper towel.

5)Let dry for a day.

6)Using razor or exacto follow lines of your taillights to cut tint to match shape.

Done. Jon.

p.s. the tint is removable and reapplicable. Also you will get enough material that if you f up you can keep trying. I will try to post a pic of my car but if it doesnt work follow my link.

Isn't that type of tint you suggested supposed to only be applied to the inside of windows? Don't want it to fall off in the rain or something.

Just an FYI for the future posting in the Tutorial section.

If you have a request, there's a request thread for DIY...use it. That's why it's there.

Please do not start a new thread in the Tutorial section unless you're writing a document for a requested tutorial.

Since JMSinMaryland was nice enough to write one in this thread, this will thread will be left here instead of being deleted.

NON TUTORIALS WILL BE DELETED

We just want the tutorial section to be easier to search.

BTW,

Nice write up JMSinMaryland! I'd ask you for a better quality pic but not sure if you have one available and also, the pic is really big bro. Would you mind resizing it?

Thanks,
Michael 8)

Better?

Postby JMSinMaryland » Wed Nov 16, 2005 2:30 pm

Michael,
Sorry about that, hopefully this one is better size and quality. As long as you let it dry for a day it forms a seal with the light. Im still careful when I wash it, I won't go through a car wash (before I did this either) and I rinse with the water indirect. Otherwise through rain and high speeds no prob. Jon.
