risky :\ who wants to be the first to try :)
where many hate, few will love,
But for those who love,
they'll see what it's like to live.

it looks clean but seems to me that cutting holes in your hood would make it less durable. does that make sense? and what about water getting on your engine. isnt that bad? i know nothing.
also i think it would look better if both sides matched.

I would just cut up front near the radiator, to pull out hot air.
I think i would have to look in the back to see any room to make scoops for more hot air to be pulled out.

I think it looks nice. I would have to see what kind of hole options thre are for the Solara before I decided to do it to my car, but assuming the holes are similar to the s2k, it'd be fine.

Durability of the hood: Its the bent metal underneath the hood that gives it its strength. No loss of durability there.

Water on the engine: Who cares? it gets wet in the rain anyway. There are places I wouldn't want to have the vents (Above ignition & brake master cylinder are the 2 that come to mind) But besides that, it'll be fine. If you're worried then make covers for the vents to put on the bottom when your car will be sitting in the rain for long periods.

It looks like a good DIY mod.

To answer your questions:
1. It wouldnt necassarily make the hood weaker due to the support metal remaining intact.
2. Water ON the engine is fine. Water IN the engine is bad. The only way water would get IN your engine through a hood vent is if you had a ram air with no water dump thing on the bottom.
