Can anyone tell me if this method of fixing is kit-specific or car-specific? This is because I have an HID kit that is working on an older car (93 Camry) but not a newer car (a 05 tC or a 03 Camry). I was wondering if this fix would make it work on the newer cars.

Good write-up!

go look at your harness from your car camry or Tc, i bet the colors dont match up when you plug the harness in. its probably red-black and black- red which was my case
it needs to be red-red and black-black
