flat head screwdriver, pry it out from the top between the black piece and the tan/gray piece.. it should pop out. remove the 2 clips, one for hazard light I think, another one for clock..
then pull out.

easiest way is to pull out the ashtray.... and slide your hand inside a bit and PULL .... its just a lil trim piece then slowly move your way up... i think i've taken that thing apart 100 times.... u might want to move your shifter down b/c its kinda in the way....

nemoxfishy said right, remove ashtray, pull the piece, and if your car is auto, put the car on gear 1 or 2. Unplug the wire in the bottom (cig, ashtray light,..) and turn the piece over your sterring, this way you can work without unplug all the wire of the center dash bezel. I did it 20 times for my little LED mod, new radio,etc...

I find it helpful to remove the trim piece around the shifter, unplug the 12V plug and remove it. Then pull out ashtray, and ciggerette lighter. then grab hold of the bottom piece around where the ash tray sat and pull it up carefully. Then take your finger DO NOT USE A SCREWDRIVER (If you have the wood trim) and kinda pop it off. There are no screws here, it is all clips. Very easy to do. Just unplug the clock/hazards at the top end of the console and voila.

to remove the cigarette and clock wired do you take of the dash then remove the wire connections from the rear, or do you do something on top then remove the dash?
