New Independent Foglight Mod. (GEN1)

DONE!!!

It only took 2 ½ hours.
There was a bit of confusion on wires to cut, but I got it.

The relay, pointed out in yellow is the same relay circled in yellow in the pic below this one.

When you flip it over this is what you see. The red arrow pointing at the RED/SILVER DOTS wire is the same wire in TLMNICK’s pic with the red arrow.
That’s the wire you wana cut and the wire that stems out of the plug is the wire that you connect to your extention wire to run to the front of the fuse panel.

Image

Then of course you know to SPLICE (dont cut) into the green wire.

Hope this helps a bit for those trying to find that dam fog relay.

...and I found out that I have a fog light out. I need some HIDs for my fogs.

Thanks TLMNICK for the write up. I prolly wouldnt have attempted this had I not seen your simpler DIY write up.

Worked like a charm, thanks bro! in addition to hearing it, I also put my finger on the relay I thought it was and was able to feel it vibrate. But man, it sure was a biatch to get to those wires, had to undo the whole white plastic tray that's mounted to the frame to get to the wires behind it, but all is well and definitely glad I did this. Now just need to get some yellow capsules.

Man I'm doing this and I'm getting pissed :bad-words: I can't seem to remove that white plastic tray where the fog light harness's at. I removed 1 screw on the top but it seems like there's something blocking it in the bottom. Is there another screw?

Hellppp

Ok I just did everything but IT DOESNT WORK :bad-words: :bad-words:

It's like I didn't do anything at all :( Before the last step (splicing into the green wire), my fog lights doesn't work at all. But after splicing, it becomes like before, no independent fogs :(

Someone help me please!

quick question,
In step 5, what do you mean buy "splicing" into the green wire?
does it mean to just strip the coating in the middle of the green wire and simply wrapping your wire around it? like a "T"?

Does this work with 2001 Toyota Solara Coupe? I'm not too sure about the Gen 1, Gen 2 identification.

Yes, you have a Gen 1, so this mod should work for you.

Hope this helps.
