9006 to 9005 conversion for foglights

9005's are much brighter than 9006's and after I did this conversion to my Accord, I never wanted to go back again, now when I get a chance, I'm going to do this to my Solara. It's a very easy mod but as is with any DIY, do it at your own risk and I assume no responsibility for any damage or injuries.

It might blind somebody, it works great in my head lights in my Accord. Now once I get a chance to do it to the Solara, I'll take a pic with a 9006 and a 9005 so you can compare. It does get hotter, but not enough to burn anything out or cause any damage. Unless you kept your fog lights on for quite a long time.

I have the 9005 conversion for my fog lights, I turn them on when necessary and they are brighter.

9005's use 65W, wheres as our 9006's use 55W

This means that it is going to work more and will get hotter than normal like krawzyazn said previously in this thread...

If you decide to run it "all the time" your chances of burning your wiring harness is much greater than using your fogs occassionally.

id be careful and just stick with 9006.
where many hate, few will love,
But for those who love,
they'll see what it's like to live.

You would replace your bulbs more frequently (or like other stated your wiring harness). Luckily for me it was always the bulbs on my celica. (I had rewired my bulbs and ran 100W).

you'll be fine in regards to the heat.

I've been running 9005s as low beams for 4 yeras now and no real problems.

But it is a good idea to replace your harness though- more for the socket attachment than the wires though.

If you just modify the bulbs, they still don't hold as well as an original 9006 bulb and they can move around a bit. For me, both my harnesses melted at the socket on the inside where you can't see it unless you take out the bulb.

And there is a bit more glare. In the gen3 camry's stock headlights it wasn't that bad though.

Just did this mod last night and threw them on...not too bad, but not that brilliant yellow I was looking for. But...since it was raining today, I put on the headlights and fogs for maybe 15-20 minutes. Now the fogs don't come on at all. I switched them back to sylvania 9006 and still nothing. Checked the fod circuit breaker under the dash, not cracked.... Anybody got ideas?? Burnt harness? but only after 15-20 mins., come on?!?!
