UPDATE #1

Additional New Symptoms: Map lights out, coach light out, vanity lights out, Nav system flaky, Homelink out, compass always displays north.

Dropped the car off at the dealer this morning. They were hoping to have some answers but no luck. I was hoping to drive down to the coast this weekend but if I do, it will be in a rental. (A Pacifica to be exact)

They hope to have some news Monday or Tuesday but the Techs were not very confident. They aren't sure what to make of all the symptoms.

Oh well...whats the worst that could happen right...

Sounds like a totally messed up electrical system. I'd ask for a whole new car if they can't fix it all soon.

Just curious, did you take the car off the lot or order it?

Searched for it for about 3 months. I was about to give up hope and order it when I found 1 locally in Houston. It's been tough to find the convertibles with the NAV installed. Hopefully I will get some good news today.

When was it made? I wonder if it was one of the early models.

My coupe was made in August and I bought it in May with 150 miles...no one could tell me why it sat around, but it came from another dealer too. Fortunately I haven't experienced the left drift problems however my sunroof farts and I have some accelerator lag. I think I corrected most of my rattle over the weekend, got my fingers crossed! The trunk tray on the drivers side was loose; I removed it and found that the white plastic piece that secures the bottom of the tray to the chassis was laying in the well area...the car is much, much quieter now. I also put a towel between the tire and the spare tire tools.

UPDATE #2

The service department called to give me a status report. This morning they swapped a blown fuse that was supposed to have controlled all the parts in question. They drove it 10 miles declared it healthy and were about to call me when a tech discovered they could once again not unlock the doors with the remotes. Same blown fuse...no idea what is causing it. Looks like I'll be in the rental for a couple of more days at the least. Wish me luck. Even with these problems I can't wait to get the car back. Its just too fun to drive to let a d@mn fuse spoil it.

It the same fuse is being blown it should isolate it to that specific circuit. Intermitatnt electrical problems are the worst and hardest to isolate.

Couple of questions I would ask the dealer to ask the original dealer
Was there any damage to the vehicle, no matter how insignificant it was. If there was damage its possible a wire could be shorting, bad crimp or partial broken....

Was there any water issues/leaks...possible there is moisture present that is contributing to the issue

Does your state have a lemon law. In CT if the repair can't be fixed after a certain number of attempts the dealer has to make good and r/r the vehicle.

Make sure you keep detailed records. If the dealer at some point becomes uncooperative you can file a complaint with the DMV.

It should have the month and year on the driver's side door post - the one with the PSI info.

Ok, I'll check on it tomorrow when I get it back. Finally some good news. They think they have isolated the problem to a faulty Homelink Visor and will replace it tomorrow. I sure hope that is the only problem. What a PITA.

UPDATE #3
Got the car back last night. Everything is looking good now. I will definitely go for a cruise this weekend. A crimped wire in the Homelink visor was causing a short. After they isolated it, the fix was simple. Wow...I am definately reveived when I consider what the other possobilities were. Hope it doesn't make a return trip to the dealer for about 4500 more miles.
