Toyota Announces Prices For
2005 Camry Solara Coupe And Convertible

08/02/2004 Torrance, CA

Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., announced manufacturer's suggested retail prices (MSRP) today for the 2005 Camry Solara Coupe and Convertible. The Coupe and Convertible will begin arriving at dealerships nationwide this week.

The Solara Coupe enters the 2005 model year as a carryover model after being completely redesigned last year. The value of the 2005 Solara Coupe is reflected in its pricing. The SRP for the Solara Coupe remains unchanged for 2005. The SE starts at $19,220 while the SE Sport is positioned at $20,715. The premium SLE grade carries a base MSRP of $23,095.

The Solara Convertible SLE remains unchanged for 2005 while the SE grade receives minor interior modifications, which include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, shift knob and parking brake handle.

The base MSRP for the Solara Convertible ranges from $26,380, for the SE, to $29,650 for the SLE. The new base pricing reflects an increase of $430, or 1.7 percent, for the SE and an increase of $200, or 0.3 percent, for the SLE.

there's no mention of any exterior changes or new colors

Toyota makes VERY minor mods during years 2 and 3. On the fourth year, you'll see a modified front end and an updated rear (probably just light change, nothing too major... maybe the shape of the lights may change slightly). Then the 5th year is a carryover also.

New colors are usually mentioned in the announcements, so I think it's all carried over. I think sales were hurting for the Solara in 04 (although I see them all over southern california) so they probably added more standard convert. features to get more buyers

Makes me wonder why they raised the price by $200 if it's unchanged ...

Probably has to do with the value of the dollar against the yen...

Um, probably not, since like the coupe the Solara convertible is made in Georgetown, KY (TMMK) from (mostly) U.S. parts. More to do with market positioning and supply and demand, I would guess.
