Value check on a 09 Solara SE

Value check on a 09 Solara SE

Postby ViriiGuy » Fri Dec 04, 2009 6:38 pm

Greetings,

I am going to be selling my mom's new Solara for her in the very near future and trying to get an idea of the value. Hers is a Silver 09 SE 4 cylinder with aluminum wheels moonroof and all the airbags and premium sound I think. Oh and it has 4k miles and is mint. And located in TN.

Thanks,
Randy

The Solara SE I4 costs around 20,000 brand new, so the value should fall around 18k or 19k.

Thank you both. I was half expecting somewhere around 19k by looking at the car. I know nothing about these myself. But mom sure liked it :)

No problem, glad I could help.

It is a great car and it holds the resale value pretty well.

I checked the KBB, the private party value for your car at excellent condition is in the 17k range.

Also 2008 was the last year of production for the Toyota Solara coupe, I think year 2009 is the last year of production for the convertible.

Ahh then it is likely a 2008. I know she has only had it a few months and bought it new.

Forget the KBB, I have seen a 2004 Camry I4 LE for sale for 12k, 18k is perfect as a sale price. How can one sell a 2009 model for a price so close of a value compared to model years older?

Any salesman will tell you the value of a car is what you can get out of it. :)

Given the fact this car is absolutlely pristine and so low miles, I will likely list it for 20k. I believe mom paid 25k for this car new a few months ago.
That way I can get whatever the market will bring for it. Since we are in no hurry to sell it, shouldn;t be too much of a problem to walk away with 17-19k from it.

At least that is what I figure.

Ask any salesman and they will sell a Solara of your model and condition at the price at or higher than 18K.

My Solara's price out of the door was 21K, the original MSRP was 25K.

I know newer models mostly means more expensive but :o at 25k lol.

I am fairly certain that is what she said. I however will have the paperwork and everythingi n a few days. I will know for certain then. But my mom also was never one to haggle either. She would pay sticker price for anything.

Don't advertise it as an '09 coupe or people will think you a fraud. (Since there's no such thing.) It's an '08 and did not come with "aluminum wheels". (unless Mom pimped it out aftermarket.)
Get the real facts from the sticker or http://www.edmunds.com/ so buyers won't look at you funny.

My head is about to explode, me so tired from fun meet today ayeee

KBB is not always accurate, a lot of the sellers out there don't follow the KBB. Look at the prices for the 2004 Camry that is on sale and you will see some that are over 10K in pricing.

I don't understand why OP's mom wants to get rid of the Solara if she likes it so much, there is nothing wrong with it.
