my friend just bought a 2nd gen solara with the jbl system. everything is still factory. the problem he's having is that the audio fades from front to rear on its own. has anyone heard of this issue before? i did a search, but nothing came up for this.

Now THERE'S your problem--Best Buy. They may have just removed the stock HU and rigged the wiring to the stock amp. Very few aftermarket radios will function normally ESPECIALLY if it's hooked it up to the stock amp because the stock amp also has a signal processor inside . It ain't a potent signal processor but it's enough to screw up any aftermarket stereo hooked to it. In essence, (if this is indeed the problem) Best Buy needed to bypass the stock amp because it was designed to work perfectly for the stock HU only, hooking anything else to it is a crapshoot.

Have your boy redo the wiring cause he cant take it to best buy anymore cause the car was sold and he is not the original payer for the install of the unit. His best bet is to re-do the wiring himself to save him some money.
