2007 gauge cluster in a 2004

Hey everyone!

I was curious... I have a 2004 Solara SE sport. I have the black backed gauges and don't like how dim they light up ( only really visible light at night and the red needles look pink )

I was curious is it possible to swap a 2004 gauge cluster with the 07 gauge cluster... i know they are the same format and design... I'm just worried about the connections and the fact that the 2007 gauge cluster has an additional lcd for the shift function. Does anyone know if this would work or would be a waste of my time... and if it is a waste of time what type of bulbs should i get to replace the original dash lights.

Thanks in advance for any advice

It is turned up all the way it just doesn't get very bright i assume the bulbs are starting to dull out. I like the 07 gauge cluster because it seems like it's much brighter and has less of a plain look to it as well.

On auto they should come on at night or when it gets dark but even in some conditions during the day they can be dark.

You always can just switch to the light background '04-'06 cluster from a SE.

that's a possibility too. I liked those 07 gauges because they have great impact appearance.

maybe u can go to the parts department and see if you can look at the blowups for the 04's and 07s?
i dunno how much that would help but u might be able to see mounting points
not too sure though since ive only used them to find specific parts and never noticed if it showed points of mounting

I also have a 2005 Sport, yeah even at the highest setting the gauge cluster is known to be the dimmest of any car I ever driven. I'm assuming this was to give some ambiance flair by Toyota engineers. That being said I think changing the background might help in daylight but the gauges are not gonna look any brighter, especially at night. The problem is basically related to the bulbs and I don't know of any aftermarket brighter bulbs for the instrument cluster.
