Please answer ASAP

Hi everyone,
I am new here. I have a 2007 Solara SE that a dealer let me take over the weekend because I was pretty sure I was going to buy it. I just had my daughter run the water hose over it while I was inside to check for roof leaks. It was fine until she squirted the hose directly at where the window and the roof meet. A significant amount of water came through. Is this normal? Should I be able to have spray a hose directly at that area with nothing coming through?? Or is this part of having a convertible??
I hope I can find this out before I take it back to the dealer Monday morning.
Thanks!!
Candice

Welcome to SG

Our 2006 will leak if you shoot water at the edge of the window and the rubber gasket, also under the side mirrors are prime leak spots. Show it to the dealer and let him fix it or lower the price, a lot. We put up with the leaks because with the top down, it makes all the difference on our drive to work. Good Luck.

There shouldn't be any leaks and, no, this is not normal. Many Solara convertible owners I know have been through car washes and brutal midwest rainstorms and have not experienced any problems. My first guess would be a bad seal. My second guess would be to recalibrate the window. If the car has been serviced lately whereby the battery was disconnected all four windows need to be recalibrated. (Check your owners manual for the calibration procedure or ask on this forum.) My third guess would be the car may have been in an accident previously and the repair was not done properly--check the car history. But, again, water should not be coming inside the cabin, if it is then I wouldn't bother purchasing it. A "significant amount of water" leaking and not knowing the cause is too problematic to inherit no matter how much you may fall in love with a car.

actually i think it does leak if u spray it directly at where the window and roof meet
but take it to the dealer and say something anyway...they may try to do something for u
