Those of you getting the cars for below invoice, where are you located?

I live in Washington, DC. Also, I traded in my 00 Celica GTS which still had 10K outstanding on the loan.

price i paid

Postby jim1974 » Mon Oct 13, 2003 8:32 am

Hi all, new member to this board. Just got my '04 Solara SE V6 sport friday, paid 22,600 (with moonroof and 6 cd changer) and got 2.9% financing. (northern cali) paid 1400 more to have the seats upholstered in leather, so 24,000 altogether. Wanted the SLE but the ivory and sand stone dashboard clashed with the silver cd/climate control console. Liked the new exterior colors they had, but it just looked to sharp in black... Very happy with the car so far!

Where did you buy your car from and were you happy with the price? I am in the same area. Just curious... I am pricing them out now.

I bought my car from DARCARS on Cherry Hill Road. I don't think I could have got it for anything less.

Nice job! I tried to get my dealer to dip into his "hold back," but I was unsuccessful. I had to settle for $500.00 over invoice. If I had traveled to a bigger city (Milwaukee or Madison in my case) I think I could have gotten that same deal. Many of the dealers in my area regardless of make still think selling a car at MSRP is appropriate. Well, I suppose if they can get people to pay it, why not?

I shopped in North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Texas, Georgia, and South Carolina. Had a potential deal in Tennessee but the dealer would not forego $300 in dealer applied options that, at my request, would not even be put on. Virginia offered $25,500 for slightly less car that was a demo. Texas offered a measly $700 off MSRP and South Carolina offered $26,800. All pricing was from large city or high volume dealers.

The car we put a deposit on is the only one in the southeast that is equipped as needed/wanted. But I cannot take delivery until I turn 18 on November 1st. My parents want everything to be in my name for liability reasons. :(

Dealer in Arlington for the exact same package wants to charge me $27,369. That's about 1K difference in price!

Just bought my Solara at below invoice.

2004 Solara SLE V6 - Lunar Mist Metallic and dark gray leather
-Curtain side airbags
-Vehicle skid control w/Trac
-Navigation system
-Rear Spoiler

Listed MSRP was $29,110, Invoice was $26,558. I paid that invoice price.

BUT ........They threw in the carpet/cargo mat set for free (worth $184). So MSRP was really $29,294.
AND.... I got an extra $250 off from an Owner Loyalty certificate I got in the mail from Toyota and handed to them!

I bought the 7 yr/75000 mile Toyota platinum extended warranty for $1100 which was $100 off. Now I feel like I really have a Lexus! This car is beyond awesome!

sorry to burst your bubble, but with what you paid the for warranty, you got just an average price on the car.

True, but the warranty is extra. What I paid for the car and options itself was very low. Since it was so low, it was easier getting the warranty. The car and the warranty is still a very good deal. My previous Solara needed $800 of repairs after the warranty was up so getting an extended warranty is a very good idea these days.

Bottom line is I demonstrated possible low prices one is able to get on this brand new car.
