rattle in wiper cowl area?

rattle in wiper cowl area?

Postby donjumps » Mon Dec 12, 2011 7:44 pm

I have a 2003 Solara SE 4cyl. convertible with only 90,000 miles. Car has developed a nasty rattle from up near the wiper cowl area. It seems to be coming from both sides. The two little push-in clip type connectors on each outboard corners were broken, and very loose, allowing the corners to bounce around. We though we had found the problem! Replaced both clips, cowl appears tight, and rattle continues. I have removed the wiper arms, and removed the cowl. I am going to drive the car home tonight with wiper arms and cowl off to see if it still rattles.
Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions to offer? Thank you very much

If it's only when it's top up, windy, or passing a truck... I know what that is. But sounds like yours is a bit more problematic.

Nice car! Thanks for the reply. It is still rattling with the wiper blades and cowl removed. Also, it does seem to be with the top up, worse when windy, ect..
Everthing with the wiper arms seem to be tight and secure.
So, can you please expand on the issue, and suggest a repair??
Please AND thank you very much!
