Engine Sludge with only 35k miles

I purchased the 2007 SLE 2.4L, with only 26k. I have been using Mobile 1 Extended Performance with the Ext Per Filter. The only upgrades I did were the Pulstar Spark Plugs and a Volo Chip. Any suggestions as two why I have Engine Sludge.

Weird, I have only used OEM Oil, filters and original spark plugs and have zero problems at 110k miles. I'm thinking the higher performance oil and spark plugs are too much for our engines?

^^it has nothing to do with 'higher performance oil'. To OP, most likely because you bought a 5 years old car with 26k. For most of the time, the car might have been parked. Can you post a picture so we can see how bad it is?

I'm guessing what mig's is guessing. I'm also suspect of the previous owner not changing the oil regularly and the engine just needs a complete flushing to get the stuck-on gunk out of there. Barring that, make sure your engine is reaching temperature--the biggest cause of sludge (second only to over-extended oil changes) is a cold running engine.
