Hi all, new to the forum. Sold the Lexus RX and now have a 2008 Solara SE in the Metallic graphite gray. I have ordered the new wheels and tires - will post up when theyre installed

My question: Has anyone run across a rattle type noise at highway speed coming from the sideview mirror area. definetly related to wind speed. its outside the vehicle and transfers into the cabin.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

The sideview mirror housings are held to the door by only one nut, my first guess-stimate would be at high way speeds the nut is just loose enough to allow wind at highway speeds inside where the mirror connects to the door. First physically check any possible play in the mirror housing--there should be absolutely zero movement. Also, make sure the mirror itself hasn't become loosened inside the mirror housing, you should hear clicks as you manually move the mirror with your finger.

The mirror housing can be accessed by popping off the triangle piece inside the door, however I have no clue how to tighten the mirror itself.

Turns out what was happening was the bolt holding down the front part of both inner fender liners were missing and when on the freeway the wind would blow back the thin plastic onto the tires. the had holes in them from wearing. like most noises it was hard to tell the origin and the noise transmitted unusually through the car from all the way up there. all fixed now. thanks for the replys
