Tire Suggestions

I've got a 2006 Sport Edition V6 SE Solara and I only have 72,000 miles on it, yet I am on my third set of tires. First ones were stock when I bought the charge and it had 9600 miles on it, and it was three years old.
Second set was one I purchased at Firestone and they were HORRIBLE. Forenza or some other off-brand (at least to me) that I had never heard of. After about 17,000 miles they started making a horrible noise. Took them back to Firestone store and they said, "Oh yeah, those tires have a tendency to cup." They then charged me $400 more for a set of Bridgestones, so at that moment I was out about $1150 in tires. I wrote about four scathing letters to Firestone and I finally got a $350 refund.
Now, the Bridgestones are worn out. I did take it back into Firestone recently for rotation and they said, your tires are worn out and it is because you need new shocks/struts and we can replace those for $1700. I said, "no thanks". I'm never going to buy another tire from Firestone for as long as I live.
I've had six people recommend Discount Tire and that is where I'm going to go. What brand would you recommend? I had a 2002 Toyota Solara and I put Yokohamas on it and I loved them. Unfortunately, I totalled the car in 2009.
