winter tires + fule consumption

i dont really know where to post this cause this isnt even a gen 2 solara related post its a very general post but i post and view topics here so im adding this here
my girl friend lives in the snow belt just north of tornto and they get ALOT of snow up there so this year she decided to put a set of snow tires on her car they had a big snow fall already and she was ahppy to have em but now taht the snows melted and hopefully wont come back ( ya right) shes driving around on dry pavement and shes telling me the snow tires are sucking her gas it dosent surprise me really they are knobby lil things and they stick to payvment well too.
I guess this is more of a heads up if you didnt know taht snow tires suck gas well now ya do.
