Do I have a remote trunk release problem?

My 04 Solara comes with remote trunk release. The trunk didn't pop up upward to the top and I need to slam the trunk very hard to close it. Is it normal?

please rephrase...

it doesn't go all the way open - a slight push would open it all the way.
to slam it, only slight firm push - no need to slam it

when i pop my trunk with remote it opens and just pops up a bit the rest you do by hand, ive never seen a remote trunk taht pops all the way open like a jack in the box ud need some serious springs in the eject button. As for the slam, i found the trunk needed a lil more of a push than my accords did its lighter too though the accord had a full spoiler on it, but i use my trunk everyday actually its opened and closed at least 4 times and ive noticed the slam that i originbally had to do moved to a firm push to a light drop the latch might be a lil stiff break it down then its all good.

There are some cars that will fully open the trunk via the remote. The Solara actually opens the trunk higher than I'm used to and it also takes more effort to shut.
