Pulley Removal tool?

Pulley Removal tool?

Postby 20SoLaRa02 » Tue Sep 09, 2008 10:34 am

Hey all,

i'm going to be removing my pulley soon and i was wondering does anybody know of a specific tool that would work well with our application. i know many people used a strap wrench or an impact gun. i rather not use an impact gun as i don't even have one, and i'm worried that the strap wrench might not do the job for me.

any input on a good pulley removal tool would be great or even where to rent one perhaps.

Thanks,
Michael

Well I just went to advance auto parts and rented the smallest pully removal tool they had. you will just have to hit that bolt with the impact to loosen it, then take it off and use the tool. but your local auto part store will have a tool you can use.

Craftsman sells a strap wrench with a metal handle that is plenty tough for the job. I've used it on several pulleys with perfect results.

A pulley puller will work to remove the pulley from the spline, but I had to modify mine with longer arm studs so that they would fit around the pulley.
