Blown knock sensor still showing a reading?

My bank 2 sensor went the other day while I was racing my bro's celica. I'm actually surprised that it lasted this long at 6psi, so I ordered 2 of the ATS sensors and will be putting them in ASAP.

Anyone know why my SAFC2 is still showing a reading for that sensor? The readings seem quite normal aside from a random spike which I've never seen before.

more questions than answers, but I was curious too...shouldn't the sensor still show some kind of a reading anyway even though it's been tripped? or does something actually "break" when it's tripped?

After a bit of research, it appears that a blown KS can still produce a reading, but it's usually whack. I'm open to any other input, though.

Also, can anyone verify the Toyota part # for the coolant hose that runs over the sensors? I have 16261-20010.

A blown sensor will still give a reading, ur safc is showing u what the sensor is putting out, the way the ECU see's that its blown is that the sensor isnt sending the right values after 3k rpms(thats when the ecu even checks on the sensors).

A blown sensor will act normal till u actuall get on it, ull see that its not giving the values that it used to and will stay around the same numbers(usually relativly lower than they should be @ WOT or when higher than 3k rpms)...these constant numbers tell the ecu that something is up...atlesat this is what i concluded while i blew a sensor on the dyno :)

Thx dawgz. That also explains why I didn't get a CEL on the way home from work...didn't get above 3k rpm's.

BTW-for those searching in the future, the part # I posted above for the coolant hose is correct.
