S/C Maintenance and Spark Plug Change Help

Postby salaki » Tue Jun 02, 2009 1:11 pm

My SC is making some noise and I think I need to relube the SC and while doing this I would also like to change my spark plugs.

Do I need to remove the SC to relube?
How about changing the spark plugs, do I need to remove the SC?
I know the spark plugs are very tight to get to.

MY concern is whether I need to buy any gaskets during removal to both lube and change my spark plugs.

As for bearings inside the SC, how easy are these to change or grease?
Can a regular DIY guy (done suspension install, turbo bolt on upgrade on other car, stereo installs (basic installation) do the bearing change/upgrades?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
David

Thank You for the reply.

I sure have more 30K miles probably abt 40K miles.

The coupler you mean here is the phenolic adapter that comes w/ the TRD S/C Oil kit from TRDparts4u?

^^^yes, that's what he's referring to.

The SC will need to come off to change the oil and install the new coupler, which also makes it ten times easier to install those rear plugs too.

Thanks for the quick reply again :)

Another questions as always :D

Do I need to replace the following gaskets:
1. S/C and manifold
2. S/C and Throtle body
3. S/C and EGR Pipe

Can using copper gasket spray good enough to seal them back w/o leak?

If swapping struts is 5 out of 10 (10 being hard) what do you consider removing the S/C for oil. I just want to estimate how many hours I should reserve just in case I'm stuck :P

Thanks,
David
