Hey guys,

I'm interested in the dyno sheets of your boosted 1mz's. I'm just trying to work out how much boost and power is produced throughout the rev range in both 4psi and 5.5psi.

Also if you guys are interested, Dave (a camry enthusiast here in Australia) has found another place to get a boost reading. Especially for those who can get it from the boost port due to the positioning of the strut bar. I'll upload a pic of it later if you guys want.

Oh another thing, is it weird that my car (auto) boosts in 1st with the ebc hooked up properly? It boosts to about 2.5psi in 1st and then cuts boost on the gear change. Also does it go into full boost in second?

Thanks guys :)

Anthony

How much boost was it running at the time?

I'm pretty sure it was 7 psi.

It may have been 4. I really can't remember when I changed the pulley. Notice the date was 2002. This was taken about 6 years ago.

i actually think a stock auto is maybe closer to 130.. whp... ive seen it dynod by 2 companies.. and my numbers I dynod with my mods made sense.

^ hardly 130...it's a dyno proven 145-150whp stock (or close to stock, since pretty much very little does anything to an NA 1mz). I personally know of 4 people in toronto who dynoed around 150, and same for the auto 3vz. any company that posts below that....well, let's just say that it benefits them to do so, and there's a big BS sign on their foreheads

I pulled a 158whp with my 94 1mz auto w/ a CAI from EL Prototypes, a custom y-pipe from ultimate performance, and a 2.5" brullen cat-back, and a stock cat. and this was done at about 240,000 km and 18" 26lbs rims. so the engine was no baby either. I look at all my mods at that point as helping me put down about a reasonable and logical 10whp to stock.

and I'll post my dyno charts (NA auto w/ knock sensor issues, NA auto, and 5-speed+s/c) for the OP when I get the chance

These are numbers for an automatic v6.

xerd dynoed an automatic v6
129 WHP

This guy dynod his car. All it had was the cpe and matched the gains from the charts.

and heres mine with cp-e, magnecor wires, exhaust, lightweight pulley and fuel pump.

this is a stock 5spd @ 156whp.

Friggin Automatic!! haha

imo theres no way that a stock crappy auto tranny would make close to the same power. even 155 is pretty disappointing seeing how other cars can make higher numbers stock and have a lower rated hp at the fly. I dont think that cpe rated our cars lower than they should be. With that logic they wouldve done the same with the other cars on their site. They have the mazda 3 4 cyl making the same whp. lol

Ahh thanks guys :) Just trying to gauge when the power should be kicking in. :) At the moment it is most noticable at about 4k. And also what it can be when i do upgrade to 5.5psi.

^ yup, that's about where the power really comes on...

as for the mazda 3 2.3L 5-speed making about the same....on dynos, they can put down closer to 140whp on a dynojet

In regards to Xerd and their 129whp on a mustang dyno, that sound about right, since they are known to put down around 15% less than any other dyno, be it a dynojet or a dynapack. Take that into account, and you're looking at around 148whp.

for redgen1, I can't say, as he didn't post a dyno graph to look at.

as for 99v6solaraSE, the only real upgrade to mention at that point is the CPE intake. So presuming that you put down 145whp stock, a 5-6whp gain with an intake and exhaust without a y-pipe is in fact quite respectable. And something funny's going on with that dip...which would be at around 5K if I'm correct...but yeah...graphs with speed instead of RPMs is pretty hard to read

Long story short, the 1mz with an auto still DOES NOT put down 133whp, unless something isn't running right.

Observe:

My dyno NA Auto w/y-pipe and 2.5" exhaust + stock cat + 17" rims, stock intake and w/ knock sensor problems

Image

My dyno NA Auto w/ same as above +18" rims + CAI + relocated knock sensors

Image

SKPerformance - 94ES300 - CAI and 2.5" exhaust + 18" chromes

Image

EKam - 96 camry - y-pipe + 2.5" exhaust + 17" IS300 rims

Image

Ratko - 94 camry - stock auto w/ muffler + knock sensor problem

Image

Ratko - 94 camry - stock w/ muffler + 5-speed swap + knock sensor problem

Image

SilverStreak - 92 3vzfe - 2.5" exhaust + 17" rims

Image

[b]Dave Mush - MR2 1MZFE Swap - 5speed

Image

The MR2s can put down close to 10whp more stock than our cars due to their really short (non-restrictive) exhaust system. And the 5-speed puts down about 10-15whp more than the auto.
