It's probably the brass for the boost gauge hitting the strut bar.

i already has 3 washers on each screw to make the sturt bar higher, it seems pretty clear around the area or is there any other way?

I marked the area where my 90 degree elbow was going to be installed. I removed my strut brace and took it to a machine shop. They removed a half circle shape piece of metal in the area I had marked. They buffed the area smooth, repainted the area and applied a small rubber strip. Looks like it came from TRD that way. This did not have any negative impact on the bar as I asked that question of TRD and Toyota before modding my bar.

Good Luck. 8)

I couldn't raise mine high enough to get it off the fitting. I ended up tapping a hole in the side of the sc housing for the boost fitting. To see if tthat is definitely the problem, try putting something on top of the fitting that will transfer if it touches. I don't have a good idea off hand, maybe a dab of grease or something. -JoeB

fitting

I just looked around until i found a fitting that sat low enough without hitting the strut bar, no washers needed.

Congrats. Make sure it clears when you hit the throttle in reverse as well as in drive.

Maybe there is a difference between the auto and the manual as far as clearance goes? I took a fitting that someone else used that didn't hit for him and it still hit on mine. Then I sheved it down even lower and still hit. I took it out and had my wife sit in the car and put in in reverse while holding the brake (reverse is the worst). With no fitting at all, the bar just barely clears the sc. -JoeB

By the way, I know the automatic has a different front motor mount than the manual.

JoeB,

What you say is exactly right. That's why I had my bar modded.

i never was able to get my boost fitting to clear my strut bar..but my auto s/c'ed solara doesnt make that sound..probably cuz i dont have the strut bar, it does make a dull thud when shifting from P to R but i'm assuming thats just the tranny/engine getting older..
