Question for 1mz-Fe guys using the MSD DIS-4 ignition

Postby trd4life » Fri Feb 25, 2005 4:48 pm

Do you guys like the DIS-4? What additional adapters are neccesary for it to work on the 1mz-fe? Can the stock rev limiter be removed? Whats the cost?

Thinking about ditching the Ignition Solutions Plasma Booster and geting the DIS-4.

I remember Greg saying something about removing the rev limiter with the MSD-4. Just make sure it is of benefit and you arent just killing the engine.

Also, why not replace the ignition units with some high performance ones. Turbo magazine used some variation of these in the MR6 buildup.

How did you do that? Also, did you remove the rev limiter or change it? Do you have an auto or manual? If auto, what happens to the shift points when you remove the rev limiter? Very interested. -JoeB

Joseph, the only thing I remember from Ignition Solutions is the Plasma Booster. Are you talking about that or something else? If it's the Plasma Booster, is there a way to change rev limit and speed limiter with that? -JoeB

I must say that I'm pleased with mine. You will need two 8910 Tach Adapters. The DIS-4 will run you between $350.00 and $400.00 and the adapters run from $25.00 to 30.00.

The DIS-4 Part number is 6215.

The Rev limiter can not be removed but it can be slightly raised.

Try here for pricing and info.

The mag states "ignition solutions plasma-booster direct-fire coils solved all sparking problems at a .029 spark plug gap". They even have a photo of them ... they look high tech
